Londonderry Firefighters Proud to Raise Money for MDA.

October 27, 2012
Some Londonderry Residents may have seen their local firefighters today while they were out and about Saturday morning and afternoon. The Professional Firefighters of Londonderry are taking part in our annual fundraising effort to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). This is the second time this year that we have been seen at the intersection of Mammoth Road/Nashua RD. The Fill-the-Boot or Boot Drive is held every year with great success. This year we were able to hold two Boot Drives, one during the spring time and one today. This past spring in only 4 hours due to weather we were able to collect just over $3,500 dollars. With this year’s goal of $10,000 dollars we were out filling the boot and collecting money early this morning in attempt to reach our goal. We spent about 6 hours today collecting donations with hopes of reaching our goal of $10,000 dollars. With no word yet on our total amount raised today, I would like to say today was a great success.

Founded in 1950, the Muscular Dystrophy Association funds about 300 research projects annually, including financial support for the largest drug discovery effort to cure ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. For more information on the MDA please visit mda.org.

On behalf of the Professional Firefighters of Londonderry Local 3160 I would like to thank all the town residents of Londonderry and all those passing through town for stopping and donating money to Fill-the-Boot and raise money for the MDA!
Total Money Raised For 2012 $6,804.00
